How Much Are Your Points Actually Worth? Complete 2026 Valuation Guide
What your Chase, Amex, Citi, Capital One, United, Delta, Marriott, and Hilton points are actually worth in 2026 — with redemption examples and the math behind the.
“How much are my points worth?” is the foundational question of travel rewards — and one that doesn’t have a single correct answer. A Chase Ultimate Rewards point is worth 1¢ for cash back, 1.5¢ through the travel portal (Sapphire Reserve), or anywhere from 1¢ to 5¢+ as an airline or hotel transfer. The value depends entirely on how you use them.
Here’s a clear-eyed look at what each major currency is actually worth in 2026.
Transferable Credit Card Points
Chase Ultimate Rewards — 1.5–2.0¢ per point
Floor value: 1¢/point (cash back on any card) Portal value: 1.5¢/point (travel portal, CSR) Sweet spot value: 1.8–2.5¢/point (Hyatt, Singapore Airlines transfers) Maximum realistic value: 2.5¢–4¢/point (Park Hyatt aspirational redemptions, premium flights)
What makes Chase valuable: Hyatt is the secret weapon. 25,000 Chase points → 25,000 Hyatt points → potentially a Park Hyatt NYC night worth $600 = 2.4¢/point. Consistently achievable.
Our valuation: 1.8¢ per point (conservative; most members can achieve this with moderate effort)
Amex Membership Rewards — 1.4–2.0¢ per point
Floor value: 0.6¢/point (cash redemption) Portal value: 1¢/point (travel through Amex portal) Transfer sweet spots: 1.5–2.5¢/point (ANA for Japan First, Delta for US flights) Maximum realistic: 2–4¢/point (Emirates First Class, Singapore Suites at high cash-equivalent)
What makes Amex valuable: The breadth of airline partners (ANA, Singapore, Emirates, British Airways, Delta, Qantas) and the 5x earning on flights with the Platinum card.
Our valuation: 1.7¢ per point (lower floor than Chase due to poor cash redemption value)
Citi ThankYou Points — 1.5–1.8¢ per point
Floor value: 1¢/point Best transfer: Turkish Miles&Smiles for Star Alliance business class (~1.5–2¢ when used for Lufthansa/United) AAdvantage path: Unique Citi advantage for JAL First/Qantas Business bookings
Our valuation: 1.5¢ per point (slightly below Chase due to fewer hotel transfer options)
Capital One Miles — 1.5–1.8¢ per point
Floor value: 1¢/point (statement credit against travel) Portal value: 1¢/point (hotels and car rentals through Capital One Travel) Transfer value: 1.3–1.8¢ (Aeroplan, Virgin Atlantic transfers)
Our valuation: 1.5¢ per mile

| Hilton Honors | 0.5¢ | Waldorf Astoria and Conrad luxury |
| IHG One Rewards | 0.5¢ | InterContinental, Regent properties |
Hyatt is the standout hotel currency — fixed (or semi-fixed) category pricing consistently delivers 1.5–2.5¢ CPP at aspirational properties. Marriott and Hilton both deliver lower average CPP due to dynamic pricing and higher points cost at luxury properties.
The Most Important Point Valuation Rule
Points are worth nothing if they’re sitting unused. The best redemption is a real one. A 1.2¢/point domestic flight redeemed and enjoyed beats a 4¢/point aspirational first class seat you’ll theoretically book someday.
Focus on: Achievable sweet spots that match your actual travel. If you travel domestically 8 times a year, optimize for Southwest Rapid Rewards or United domestic saver awards. If you take one international trip per year, target that currency for maximum single-redemption impact.
Valuations reflect average achievable CPP as of June 2026. Individual redemptions will vary based on specific routes, dates, and availability.
